Ammonia and Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction from Dairy COWs

Dairy farming produces large amounts of global ammonia (NH3) and greenhouse gas emissions. In Switzerland the feeding of predominantly forage diets and the presence of large soiled areas in new housing systems could lead to increased ammonia and methane emissions. To achieve national emission reducing goals effective NH3 and GHG emission mitigation measures for dairy farming systems have to be developed, combined and evaluated.
