Dr. Nils Krane

Postdoctoral Researcher

Nils Krane received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) in 2019. Under the guidance of Prof. Katharina J. Franke he investigated and utilized single layer transition metal dichalcogenides (i.e. molybdenum disulfide) as a decoupling layer for molecular adsorbates. In July 2020 Nils joined the nanotech@surfaces group at Empa as postdoctoral researcher, where he will focus on the synthesis of carbon nanostructures and the investigation of their electronic properties. Nils has a strong background in scanning probe techniques, i.e. (LE-)STM, STS and nc-AFM.

Fields of interest
