Dr. Riya Sebait
Dr. Riya Sebait completed her PhD at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea working on exploring the opto-electronic properties of 2D TMD semiconductors. After her doctoral studies she gathered experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Integrated Nanostructured Physics (CINAP) at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) , South Korea.
Dr. Sebait is experienced in the fabrication of 2D van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures and the comprehensive investigation of their electrical and optical properties. During her PhD, she has identified an unconventional phenomenon in excitonic Physics of 2D vdW heterostructure depending on their stacking chronology. She is experienced in performing Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) of semiconducting materials on non-conducting substrates and operation of cutting-edge instruments including SPM, AFM, STM, SEM, Confocal Raman microscope, RIE, dry-transfer, photo and e-beam lithography etc.
At Empa, Riya Sebait is focused on developing high vacuum aligned dry transfer techniques and device fabrication protocols to open up the opportunity of device fabrication on air-unstable materials like reactive graphene nanoribbons (GNRs).
