Biosketch
Wenze Gao received his Ph.D. in Materialogy from Tongji University (China) in 2024. During his doctoral research, he mainly focused on the on-surface synthesis and characterization of sp-hybridized carbon allotropes and carbon-rich materials like carbyne and cyclo[n]carbons with scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) under the supervision of Prof. Wei Xu. In September 2024, he joined the nanotech@surfaces Laboratory at Empa as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His focus is on studying the electronic and magnetic properties of carbon-based 2D spin lattices.
