Roksolana Kozak
Roksolana studied Chemistry at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in Ukraine, with research exchange to Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany (graduated in 2007 with Honors Diploma). In 2011 she received a doctoral degree in Inorganic Chemistry at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine. Thereafter she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Crystallography, ETH Zurich. Since 2014 Roksolana has changed her focus to Electrical Engineering and started a PhD project in the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, ETH Zurich, while doing research at the Electron Microscopy Center, Empa.
Roksolana’s research interests focus on structural studies (XRD, TEM, SEM, AFM etc.) of metals/alloys and semiconductors for defining the optimum composition and fabrication conditions in order to fulfill mechanical and electrical requirements for their successful use in functional and (nano-)electronic devices. Currently, she is working on the investigation of CaAs/Si nanostructures (including the development of algorithms for automatic detection and characterization of crystal defects formed during their epitaxial growth) towards to the production of high sensitivity optoelectronic devices in submicron scale.
Research Interests
- Synthesis of alloys, intermetallic compounds (e.g. arc-melting, induction method) and semiconductor nanomaterials (MOVPE, CVD)
- Single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction methods
- Phase diagram constructions
- Scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) study of interfaces and strain distribution in III-V semiconductor nanomaterials
- Electrical and magnetic characterization of (nano-)materials
- Electronic (nano-)devices
