Dr. Mateusz Wyrzykowski

Mateusz Wyrzykowski is Group Leader at the Early-age Concrete group. His research is devoted to deformations and corresponding stresses development in concrete at early ages, with the overall goal of understanding and mitigating cracking of concrete. His current studies focus in particular on understanding creep of concrete and its relation to shrinkage. In addition to fundamental studies of the mechanisms of shrinkage and cracking of concrete, he has also worked on the practical methods of avoiding deformations and cracking of concrete at early ages by means of internal curing.

Besides the research work and teaching (ETH Zurich), Mateusz Wyrzykowski also actively contributes to the scientific publishing process, in particular to the efforts focused on open access. In 2015 he took part in creation of the open access journal RILEM Technical Letters and has been the managing editor of the journal ever since. In years 2015-2019, he served as the managing editor of the prestigious journal Materials and Structures published by SpringerNature.
