Advanced manufacturing technologies
To realize advanced applications of aerogel materials, we have developed a powerful tool: additive manufacturing of aerogels. Printed aerogel objects retain high shape fidelity and maintain the record-breaking properties of bulk aerogels. Notably, the inks can be optionally functionalized with nanoparticles or polymers, enabling the 3D printing of aerogel objects with spatially varied functionalities. This technology is a key enabler for the activities outlined in topics 1-4 above, generating potential collaborations, publications, and proposals.
