Federica Orellana

Federica Orellana is a PhD student at Empa's Center for X-ray Analytics since 2020, working on the project "3D imaging of the microvascular anatomy of the meniscus". Her project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) in collaboration with the University of Fribourg, the IRCCS Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, the University of Zurich, and the Cantonal Hospital in Winterthur. Her background is in biotechnology/molecular biology and she obtained her Master's degree from the University of Pavia in Italy. Her scientific interests range from 3D imaging of organs, development of contrast agents for both preclinical and translational research purposes, and regenerative medicine for orthopedics.
