This project focuses on the development of novel lightweight complex hydrides with respect to their applicability as solid electrolytes and high performance hydrogen storage media. The hydrogen release reaction, reaction intermediates and the reversibility of these reactions as well as the ion dynamics in these compounds are investigated. Experimental work and theoretical calculations go hand in hand to gain understanding on the atomic level.
