Aerogel Architecture Award 2021

We are delighted to invite you to submit your examples of aerogel use in architecture, construction, refurbishment and monument preservation for the "Aerogel Architecture Award 2021". We are searching for the top realized projects of refurbishment from Austria, Germany and Switzerland to showcase the best projects of architects and civil engineers. The best projects selected by our jury will be shortlisted for our Aerogel Architecture Awards ceremony hosted on july 15th at NEST Empa campus near Zurich, which will give broad recognition to the projects. The projects will be published in relevant international publications and portals. The award celebrates the best projects with regards to energy efficiency, unconventional solutions, high performing buildings solutions with use of superinsulating aerogel materials. 

REFURBISHMENT SOLUTIONS / architects and civil engineers / realized projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland

August 01, 2020 – Competition announcement and registration opens
May 31, 2021 – Project submission deadline (23:59 hours Zurich time)
July 15, 2021 – Winners’ announcement event, Nest building, Empa Duebendorf

Projects should be from DACH countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The responsible architectural or civil en-gineering studio can be located anywhere. The award is communicated in English. Projects should be no older than three years. Highly encouraged are submissions of realized projects of refurbishment or protected buildings where the energy efficiency was improved using aerogel insulation materials. Winners will be invited to Switzerland for the announcement event, which will take place at the NEST building at the Empa campus in Duebendorf. The winners will receive a memorial trophy and are invited to shortly introduce their project within ca. 10 minutes.
