Gian-Luca Bona re-elected by Federal Council

Gian-Luca Bona has been re-elected by the Federal Council until he reaches retirement age in May 2022. Gian-Luca Bona has been CEO of Empa since 2009. Under his leadership, Empa has developed into a leading international research institute for materials research and innovative technologies with over 1000 employees. Empa works on solutions for the most pressing challenges facing industry and society in areas such as energy, mobility, construction technologies and "smart" materials. In doing so, it assumes a bridging function between research and practical application. Bona is an internationally recognized Swiss physicist with an outstanding track record in materials and surface sciences.
