Urs Leemann appointed to Empa’s Board of Directors

The ETH Board appointed Urs Leemann as a new member of the Board of Directors. The appointment was made on application of Empa CEO, Gian-Luca Bona. As of 1 October 2014Leemann will succeed Roland Knechtle who retired at the end of August 2012.
Leemann holds a Doctor’s degree in Law and, in 2012, came from the University of Zurich to join Empa as Head of the Support Department. He manages all operative areas and their 200-odd employees with great dedication and expertise. In addition, he supervises strategic functions, which contribute to Empa’s future success. One of the most important tasks that he is tackling with his team in this regard is the renovation of the 50-year-old campus in Dübendorf, which does not only have to be brought up to date in terms of energy efficiency.
