Structural retrofitting for improved earthquake stability

Dr Masoud Motavalli (42), Head of the Structural Engineering Research Laboratory at Empa, has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Tehran. There he will be teaching advanced students and thesis research students about "The application of polymer-composite materials in structural engineering", a topic which also offers solutions for the seismic retrofitting of existing buildings at risk from earthquakes.
